About a year ago, while searching for work from home opportunities and pregnant with my second child, I read a book by Maureen Frank called ‘You Go Girlfriend’. She is a top corporate business woman and single mum to twin girls, one of them being disabled. I was wondering if I had what it took to be one of those work at home mums who manage to succeed in both their role as a mum and as a professional and entrepreneur at the same time. Maureen Frank’s book helped me confirm what I needed to do to achieve my goals, and not so surprisingly the answers in the book revolved significantly around determination and mindset.

I’d like to share a powerful quote from Maureen Frank: “You have to be prepared to give it 150 percent, take some risks, have some guts, be determined to achieve your goals and – most of all – believe from deep down within your soul that you can do it”. This quote alone I believe really depicts what work at home mums need in terms of mindset to achieve success, especially the ones starting their own business. It can be tough sometimes, but with courage, conviction and willpower, all obstacles can be conquered.

According to Maureen Frank, “a change in career direction is very common and often successful”. Successful work at home mums know this; they have discovered that they can achieve all their goals as a mum and as a professional, while enjoying their work and creating results for themselves. Once you have discovered this, you know you have made the right change. Changing your career direction is about taking calculated risks, having a strong mindset, and taking the plunge!

Here are questions you can ask yourself: Do you have the mindset required to take on the challenges of building the life you want for you and your family and work from home? Do you think that you can develop the same attitude of work at home mums who work hard, take calculated risks and believe in their success? Do you want to live you dreams and reach your goals?
